DFRobot Micro 3.3V Solar Set This Solar Power Manager Micro from DFRobot is a highly efficient solar power management module for 3.3V projects with low power. You can use it to power IoT-based wireless sensors or 3.3V microcontrollers like FireBeetle ESP32 or ESP8266. The module has extremely low power loss and charges your 3.7V LiPo cells highly efficiently via MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking). MPPT is able to maximize the conversion efficiency of solar energy under weak sunlight. This feature makes it possible for low-power wireless microcontrollers to be charged by pure solar energy and run autonomously outdoors without constantly changing the battery. The module can charge a 3.7V Lipo battery via solar or USB and provides a charging current of up to 70mA or 100mA. A 3.3V 90mA regulated output can provide the required current for most low-power wireless devices during transmission or reception. The module has a built-in overcharge and undercharge protection device so that the battery is perfectly protected and achieves a high battery life.
If you want to connect a 3.3V microcontroller like the FireBeetle ESP32 or ESP8266, you have to connect the controller in parallel to the Lipo via the Lipo connection of the microcontrollerboard. The reason is that the ESP32 briefly draws more than 90mA current when sending data.
