The Shelly Presence Sensor Gen4 is a presence detector that operates with 60 GHz mmWave radar technology and reliably detects people even when they are not moving. Unlike traditional PIR motion detectors, the sensor responds to actual presence, making it particularly suitable for rooms where people sit still for long periods, such as offices, bedrooms, or reading corners. The sensor tracks up to 6 people simultaneously and supports up to 10 freely configurable detection zones over an area of up to 42 m². Detected persons are visualized in real-time on a map of the room. Adjustable sensitivity and filter options allow pets, vacuum cleaners, or low-level movements to be excluded from detection. An integrated light sensor reports ambient brightness in three levels (dark, dusk, bright) and enables light-dependent automation. In terms of connectivity, the sensor is broadly equipped: Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5 LE, and Zigbee 3.0 are integrated, with Matter supported via WLAN. This allows the device to be integrated into the Shelly Cloud, Home Assistant, and other common smart home platforms; alternatively, a built-in web interface is available. Power is supplied via USB-C with 5 V. The sensor can be mounted either with the pre-installed stand on furniture, with adhesive tape, or with screws on the wall; the optimal mounting height is 2 m. When wall-mounted, the sensor covers a detection area of 140 degrees horizontally over up to 8 × 8 m, and when mounted in corners, 90 degrees over up to 7 × 7 m. Ceiling mounting offers the Flipped Mounting function, which adjusts the detection logic when installed at 180 degrees.
