M5Stack Stack-chan AI Desktop Robot ESP32-S3

The M5Stack Stack-chan is a compact AI desktop robot developed in collaboration between M5Stack and the open-source community. The main controller is the CoreS3 development board with an ESP32-S3 SoC, featuring a dual-core processor at 240 MHz, 16 MB Flash, and 8 MB PSRAM. The main unit integrates a 2.0-inch IPS LCD with capacitive touchscreen, a 0.3-MP camera, a proximity and ambient light sensor, a nine-axis IMU, dual microphones, and a 1W speaker. The robot body is connected via USB-C and includes a 550mAh battery, two feedback servos for 360-degree rotation on the horizontal axis and 90-degree movement on the vertical axis, as well as twelve RGB LEDs. Additionally, an infrared transmitter and receiver, a three-zone touch panel on the top, and a full-featured NFC module are included. Wireless communication is provided through 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth 5 LE. The pre-installed firmware offers an AI agent, expressive animations, ESP-NOW remote control, and the capability to download apps online. Video streaming, avatar remote control, and OTA updates can be used via a mobile app. Programming is possible via Arduino IDE, UiFlow2, PlatformIO, and ESP-IDF, and numerous extension modules from the M5Stack ecosystem can be connected via Grove interfaces. Thanks to the open design and active community, Stack-chan is suitable as an interactive desktop companion as well as a platform for custom robotics and AI projects.
