M5Stack Chain ToF VL53L0 Time-of-Flight Distance Sensor

The M5Stack Chain ToF is a laser distance sensor from the M5Stack Chain series, integrating the VL53L0C laser ranging module. This sensor measures distances in the range of 3 to 200 cm with an accuracy of ±3 percent and is excellent for non-contact distance measurements as well as object proximity detection. The module is based on the STM32G031G8U6 microcontroller and uses a UART daisy-chain communication protocol, allowing multiple chain devices to be connected in series. Two HY2.0-4P expansion interfaces enable easy chaining of additional chain modules for more complex applications. The VL53L0 sensor utilizes time-of-flight technology and emits a 940 nm laser beam whose time of flight is measured for distance calculation. Unlike conventional sensors, this method delivers precise measurements regardless of the target object's reflectivity. An integrated programmable RGB LED allows for status displays and interactive feedback.
