Gravity PM2.5 Air Quality Particulate Matter Sensor

This is an air quality particulate matter sensor from DFRobot. The sensor can measure various particulate matter of different sizes, categorize them, and subsequently provide a concentration value via the I2C interface. Particles of size PM10 (2.5-10µm), PM2.5 (1.0-2.5 µm) and PM1(0.3-1.0 µm) are differently weighted, as larger particles are partially retained by the mucus membranes in the nose/throat area. The sensor uses the principle of laser scattering, i.e., the laser irradiates the floating particles in the air to create scattering, and at the same time, it collects the scattered light at a certain angle to obtain the curve of the intensity of the scattered light over time. The microprocessor then determines, based on the algorithm of the MIE theory, the equivalent particle size of the particles and the number of particles of different sizes per volume unit. The module is ideal for air monitoring in kitchens, heated rooms, bathrooms, or even measuring particulate matter pollution in outdoor areas.
