The CrowPanel 2.1" Rotary Display from Elecrow is a compact HMI module with a round IPS touchscreen and integrated rotary knob for intuitive operation. Inside, the powerful ESP32-S3R8 dual-core processor operates with up to 240 MHz clock frequency, supported by 512 KB SRAM, 8 MB PSRAM, and 16 MB flash memory. The 2.1-inch display offers a resolution of 480×480 pixels and is driven by the ST7701 controller via an RGB interface. The capacitive touchscreen with CST8XX controller allows for precise inputs, while the rotary encoder supports rotation in both directions as well as a button function. For wireless communication, 2.4 GHz WiFi (802.11 a/b/g/n) and Bluetooth 5.0 with Low Energy are available. The module features two UART interfaces, one I2C port, and a 12-pin FPC connector for expansions. Additionally, a PCF8574 chip extends the available GPIO pins via I2C. Programming is conveniently done via USB-C with 5V power supply and is compatible with Arduino IDE, ESP-IDF, PlatformIO, MicroPython, and Home Assistant. The LVGL graphics library is fully supported, allowing custom user interfaces to be designed with SquareLine Studio. The robust housing made of aluminum alloy, plastic, and acrylic provides a high-quality feel and reliably protects the electronics.
