The Sonoff Dongle Max is a powerful Zigbee and Thread gateway with Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) support, specifically designed for integration into open smart home platforms like Home Assistant and Zigbee2MQTT. It combines an ESP32 microcontroller with an EFR32MG24 radio chip, providing it with both Zigbee 3.0 and Thread connectivity as well as high stability. Thanks to Ethernet, WiFi, and USB-C connection, the dongle offers flexible installation options – even away from the router, it remains connected via WiFi or can be operated directly via PoE in the network. An integrated web console allows convenient monitoring of the device, real-time display of status and logs, and easy configuration, without any complicated additional software. Moreover, firmware updates or a mode switch (Zigbee coordinator, Zigbee router, or Thread RCP) can be easily performed via the web interface. Two external 5dBi antennas and the robust aluminum housing ensure 360° wireless coverage and long-lasting operation. The device has been tested for reliability and has CE, FCC, and RoHS certifications. Advanced features such as integrated webhooks, MQTT support, eWeLink remote gateway, VPN access, and a 1-click turbo mode for enhanced signal range complete the package.
