This epoxy casting resin set, consisting of the resin and the hardener W300, is perfect for clear and high-transparent casting applications. It is almost water-clear and offers good UV resistance, making it ideal for use in demanding projects where a clear, bubble-free surface is desired. The resin cures with a hard, polishable surface that is characterized by good impact resistance. The casting system has low shrinkage and is suitable for both thin layers and castings with a layer thickness of up to 2 cm. Thanks to the very long pot life, the resin is easy to work with and can be used flexibly, for example in jewelry making, art, or model making. It can also be modified with various fillers and pigments, further emphasizing its versatility. When processing, you should ensure that the mixing ratio of 100:35 by weight is precisely adhered to in order to achieve optimal results.

Processing:

For best results, resin and hardener should be measured by weight. (The weight mixing ratio differs from the volume mixing ratio because resin and hardener have different densities.) After mixing the two components, the casting resin should be processed as quickly as possible to avoid an unwanted exothermic reaction in the mixing container, especially important when processing larger quantities.

The heat generated during curing (exothermy) limits both the maximum castable amount and the layer thickness in one operation. The higher the temperature, the layer thickness, or the volume, the shorter the processing or gelation time will be. If a critical limit is exceeded, the resin system heats up very quickly, and unwanted reactions can occur:

The cast turns partly or completely yellow to dark brown, cracks can form, increased shrinkage occurs, and the surface becomes uneven and wavy. In the worst case, the cast can partly or completely "boil over," resulting in temperatures above 100°C.

Layer thicknesses up to 5 cm with small volumes of about 500 ml and layers of 1-2 cm with large volumes of up to approximately 30 liters are possible.

At temperatures above 25°C, we strongly advise against casting larger layer thicknesses and/or larger volumes in one operation.
