KY-040 Rotary Encoder
Unlike a potentiometer, the encoder can be turned endlessly in one direction, and the module detects the direction of rotation. In addition, there is a button that is actuated by pressing the encoder. The module is suitable for navigating menus and for controlling motors, similar to a handwheel on CNC machines.
