WeMos D1 mini ESP8266 NodeMcu Lua Board

This small microcontroller is very powerful and also has a WLAN radio module. The module is compatible with the Arduino IDE and can be programmed right away. With the ESP8266, you can easily connect your projects to the Internet. The board is often used for IoT (Internet of Things) applications or just the Internet of Things. For example, you can easily connect your data logger to the Internet and log data in a cloud.

The WeMos D1 has a micro-USB connection for programming and power supply. Since the ESP8266 is a pure 3.3V controller, you must only operate all inputs and outputs at 3.3V! If you still want to connect or control something with 5V, you must use a logic level converter, which you can also find in our shop.

When programming with Arduino IDE, you need to make sure that you can control the pins with two different methods.

Method 1 using the labeled name on the board:

Let's take the output D1 as an example, here you can switch the output with the following command digitalWrite(D1,HIGHT)

Method 2 using the GPIO number:

Here you control the output D1 using the GPIO number. In our example, the D1 is the GPIO05. So the following command digitalWrite(5,HIGHT)

First, you need to install this board under the Board Manager in the Arduino IDE. You will find the board under the name "esp8266." If you do not find the board, you need to first add the following under File=>Preferences=>Additional Boards Manager URLs: http://arduino.esp8266.com/stable/package_esp8266com_index.json. Then under Tools=>Boards=>Boards Manager, you can search for and install the ESP8266. Once you have done that, you will find various ESP8266 boards among the boards you can select (select WeMos D1 R2 & mini for this board).

Note for Windows 10/11:
If the CH340 USB driver is recognized but the upload is aborted with
"PermissionError(13): A device connected to the system is not functioning,"
this is usually due to the installed CH340 driver. Please completely uninstall
the existing CH340/CH341 driver and then reinstall our driver:
