The TF Mini LiDAR from DFRobot is a ToF (Time of Flight) LiDAR sensor that can measure distance to an object from 30cm up to 12m! As with all LiDAR sensors, the effective detection distance depends on the lighting conditions and the reflectivity of the target object. The unique feature of this sensor is its size. Measuring just 42x15x16mm, the TFMini allows LiDAR to be integrated into applications traditionally reserved for smaller sensors, such as the infrared rangefinders of the SHARP GP series. The TFMini can easily be powered with 5V and is to be used via 3.3V UART at 115200 Baud.
Info:
This sensor does not use a laser for distance measurement. Instead, a special LED with optics is used. Many of these systems are offered under the name of ""LiDAR"", even though it would be more appropriate to call them a ""Time-of-Flight Infrared Rangefinder"". However, the sensor differs from traditional IR rangefinders as it uses ToF instead of triangulation for distance determination.
LiDAR Features:
Unidirectional laser rangefinder
Maximum sensing range: 12m
Outstanding performance in distance measurement, high precision.
Supports 100Hz resolution, therefore super responsive
Small size and low power consumption
Application Example:
